Almost done!!1

Yay! We are almost done with the year! and as soon as the glaze kiln it unloaded my concentration will be done! woooh. it has been a great year with everyone and I am looking foward to the fun we will have at the showcase and during the rest of the year.

I most likely have an F cause I never blog.......

So I am pretty much done with my concentration, I just need to glaze and fire the last few projects. These however are for my breath (well at least the pitcher). I really happy with both of these things because the handles turned out reallllllly well and I excited because I am finally getting better and pulling handles. I also wanted to prove to myself (and others) that I can throw things other than cups that all look the same! and I can! I also need to start photographing everything.....oh no

I keep getting made fun of because all of the cups that I throw look exactly the same. Personally this is an advantage for me because my cups are coming out almost identical. The downside to this is the fact that I can't expand my skills into making different shapes. So I have just been exploring different ways to alter my cups. This is my latest set which I really like with the imprints. I might make a couple of more sets with different types of imprints because I like the way they turn out. This will also be cool when the woodfire comes along because it will add a cool glaze look ( I hope).

Handle Pulling

As I expressed in our critique last class I have a really hard time pulling handle, so I have been watching some videos on handle pulling to see if I can find an easier way for myself. I found that there is no easy solution. This is just one on those things that I am going to have to be patient with and sit down and work on. I might have to take a class period to just shit down and pratice pulling like 20 or so handles until I get the hang of it.

I realize that I actually need to do my blog to get a good grade.....

I am very saddened that we are not going to a woodfire next weekend! I was so excited. However, I am glad that we are doing one in the spring. I have been thinking and I would loooooovvveeee if my whole concentration was woodfired cups, but that is completely unreasonable, because no matter how I try to make my cups different they always look the same! I love the surprise of a woodfire, it's like christmas. You are never really sure how they will turn out, if they are going to break or what. I have been lucky to always have my stuff turn out pretty good (knock on wood.) Haha punny....woodfire....get it? that was stupid, I know. I would really like to experiment with new firing processes though, like soda, or salt or reduction. I have never down any of those before.



These are the newest additions to my concentration! I have been working on the perfect cup shape, or at least what I think it is. And the bottom picture is of cups that I think come extremely close. The handles turned out a little small, but nothing that I am extremely worried about at this point. I am getting much better at pulling handles, so I am happy right now with however they turn out.

As for the critique, we should deffinitely do either table groups, or a super quick full class one. I liked the table groups last time, but maybe we should write stuff, like those sticky notes we did last time, because some people didn't get the feedback they were looking for.

new stuff

I feel so lame, because I am so bad at blogging, but I always forget!

So I guess an update on my concentration and projects. I have officially decided on sets of wheel thrown cups, that are altered. Pretty much means that I will be doing all sorts of shapes and and weird indents and different sizes. Some may have handles, some may not. if anyone has any cool ideas for some cups you should give me some ideas, cause i am starting to run out haha. heres a pic of what i have been working on.
